Town Fork Creek is looking for skilled rehabbers to fix abandoned and run-down houses in our neighborhood. We want to turn these problem properties into safe, livable homes again — and we need your help.
We’re working with Neighborhood Legal Support of Kansas City (NLS), a nonprofit law firm, to take legal action against the owners of abandoned properties. Once the legal case is finished, and the rehab is completed, the rehabber who repaired the home will receive ownership of the property.
How the TFCNA Partner Rehabber Program Works
You--a qualified rehabber--apply to be a TFCNA Partner Rehabber (details below).
If you qualify, you may be selected for a property.
As a rehabber, you will:
Pay for and complete all repairs
Share updates and progress with the neighborhood
Promise how the home will be used (rent or sale), with preference for affordable, first-time homeownership.
The neighborhood, along with NLS, handles the court case.
When the case is done and repairs are finished, the home is transferred to you, the rehabber.
Why This Matters
For the neighborhood: The neighborhood decides what happens to abandoned homes and can partner with rehabbers who share our values.
For rehabbers:
Put your skills to work fixing a home that might otherwise be demolished
Help expand affordable housing and homeownership opportunities
Own the home for the cost of repairs - no purchase price.
If you're interested in bringing new life to abandoned homes and strengthening our community, we'd love to work with you.
